Alice Gurule

ANTONITO — Alice Gurule, 80, passed away peacefully May 23, 2020 at her home under Hospice care surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born on October 11, 1939, in Monte Vista, Colorado, the beloved daughter of Francisco Martinez Sr., and Ramona Lucero Martinez.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend she enjoyed cooking, dancing, gardening, reading, volunteering and being active in her community and helping others. Alice was a life member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, the Sacred Heart Society and she was also a former city council member. Above all she loved the time she was able to spend with her family and friends. Survivors include her daughters Jacqueline (Arthur) Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO; Roberta Gurule-Graves (Roy Graves) of Taos, NM; Bernadette (Benjamin) Morrow of Gautier, MS; son Joseph (Stephanie) Gurule of Sanford, CO; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sister Theresa (Charles)Martinez-Vankirk of Canon City, CO; brother Luis (Janet) Martinez of Denver,

CO; Rupert (Rita) Martinez of Lewes, Delaware. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Ramona Martinez Sr., husband Eloy M. Gurule Sr., son Eloy M. Gurule Jr., grandson Dakota Gurule and granddaughter Kayla Gurule, brothers Francisco Martinez Jr., Walter Martinez and Robert Martinez.
