Guadalupe resident Angelo Christopher (Goober) Gomez passed away Monday, April 24, 2023, at Penrose Medical Center under Hospice Care with his loving family by his side.
Angelo was born on May 31, 1971, to Gloria Marie Gomez in Denver, Colo. Angelo loved spending time with family and friends. Angelo was a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and a friend. Angelo lived in Guadalupe his whole life. He graduated from Antonito High School in 1988.

He loved to watch the Denver Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche and Rockies, WWE wrestling or any other sports and cartoons that were on tv. He loved Heavy Metal music, rock and country music. He liked to be outdoors taking walks and going fishing with his friends. He was well liked and loved by many people wherever he went. Angelo loved spending time with his nieces. Angelo loved to play basketball and baseball in his younger years. Angelo also ran the football chains for the Antonito Trojans for many years.

He is survived by his sister Gloria Lynn (Pete) Duarte of the family home in Guadalupe, Colo., and sister Janice Gomez of Albuquerque, N.M., nephew Peter and great-niece Kelly Lynn Duarte of Portage, Mich., nephew Scott and great-nieces Aria and Charlotte Duarte of Guadalupe, Colo., other brothers and sisters are Carla (James) Lopez of Sanford, Colo., John E. (Ruth) Gomez of Norwalk, Calif., Ray Gomez of Durango, Colo., Kenneth (Norma) Gomez of Alamosa, Colo., Michael Gomez and Carmen Rawls of Albuquerque, N.M., Robert Gomez of Sacramento, Calif., Thomas (Sharon) Gomez of Denver, Colo., Kathy Gomez of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lorraine Brush of Truth or Consequences, N.M., David Gomez of Norwalk, Calif., Peter (Darlene) Gomez of Sanford, Colo, also his Aunt Marlene Gomez of Alamosa, Colo., and Uncle Jack Williams of Huntington, W.Va., his special cousins Ken Paul Gomez of Hobart, Ind., and Garfield Lopez of Elizabeth, Colo., his special friend Tony Quintana of Conejos, Colo. He is also survived by lots of Uncles, Aunts, cousins, friends and the gang at the Dutch Mill.

He was preceded in death by his mother Gloria Marie Gomez, grandparents Ben and Carmen Gomez, great-grandparents Diego and Eduvigen Gomez, great-grandpa Amado Trujillo, Uncles Richard and George Gomez, Aunts Pauline Williams and Connie Gomez, nephew Christopher Duarte and other members of his family. Angelo will be missed by all that knew him.
Rosary will be held Friday, May 5, 2023, at 7 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 10 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held at a later date.
