Anton Caswell Balcomb, age 76, passed peacefully to the Lord May 21, 2018. He was born June 6, 1941, in Holbrook, Arizona to Peter and Frances Balcomb. Most of his childhood was spent in northeastern Arizona on and near the Navajo Reservation, at Sanders, Ganado and Chambers, before leaving to study with the Franciscan Order in Ohio. He went on to attend Notre Dame University where he received a Master’s Degree in Fine Art. In 1973 he moved to Bogotá, Colombia, South America, where he taught English and studied Spanish. It was there he met and married Margarita Trujillo before returning to the U.S. They settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1978, where Anton continued to pursue a career as an artist. He moved to San Acacio, Colorado in 2009 and Alamosa, Colorado in 2012.

Anton was passionately involved for many years with Right to Life, especially for the protection of the unborn, and to AA, which he had been involved with for 40 plus years, selflessly extending help to so many. He was also a member of the Legion of Mary and Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margarita, his parents, Peter and Frances Balcomb, his brothers, Michael Balcomb and Daven Balcomb.

He is survived by his daughter, Liliana Balcomb, granddaughter, Delilah Balcomb, sisters Bonnie Lee, Kathryn Balcomb, Merredith Apodaca, and Claudia Hess, and seven nieces and nephews and their children.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 31 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 511 Alicia St., Santa Fe, New Mexico. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 715 4th St, Alamosa, Colorado on Saturday June 2, 2018 at 10 a.m.
