Carole Joyce Powell, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the Homelake Veteran’s Community Living Center on Jan. 9, 2024.

Carole was born on March 6, 1942, in Grant City, Mo., to Dale and Lorene Frederick.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Powell, her brother, Bob Frederick, her three sons, William, Kirk, and Bradley Powell, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

Carole was preceded in death by her twin brother, Carl Frederick and her son, Ronnie Powell.

Carole moved from Grant City, Mo., to the Monte Vista area when she was about 10 years old. After marrying Ronald Powell, they lived in Alamosa for a short time before relocating to Del Norte where she raised her family. She and Ronald ran a laundry, laundry mat, dry cleaning business for many years before transitioning to the liquor and ranching business.

Carole took care of her family in so many ways! She sacrificed herself to make sure her family came first. She never complained and just got the job done! She and Ronald never missed an event that included their four sons. She enjoyed music by Elvis and country music. She loved to garden, cook, and read! She will be remembered and missed by all who loved her!

With Carole wanting a graveside service, the family has elected to have her services during a more “weather-friendly” time of Friday, June 7, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Del Norte Cemetery. We will post again in late May!

Arrangements in care of Strohmayer’s Funeral Home.
