Casilda Lila Olivas, 96, of San Acacio, Colo., peacefully departed from this world on Aug. 19, 2023. Born on April 15, 1927, in San Acacio, Casilda was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She devoted her life to her family and a profound love for God.

Casilda's warm and compassionate nature endeared her to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Marian and Joey Montoya of Fort Garland; grandchildren, Joey Krystle and Mike Boese of Montrose, and Dustin and Dusty Montoya of Show Low, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, all of Show Low, Ariz.: Hayzin Zappanti, Harley Montoya, Haulin Montoya, and Haystin Montoya; and many nieces, nephews, and adopted grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Marcos and Beneranda Olivas, as well as her siblings: Josefine Olivas, Polonita Velasquez, Pilar Olivas, Pedro Olivas, John Olivas, James Olivas, and Mary Valdez, and many beloved family members and friends.

Casilda attended Mercy High School, then Adams State College, and pursued a career as a mental health counselor. She dedicated herself to helping others, providing guidance and support during challenging times. Casilda's impact on the lives she touched will be remembered and cherished.

Casilda was a member of the Sangre de Cristo Parish, where she found solace and community. She actively participated in the Sacred Heart Society and Carmelitas, nurturing her spiritual life. She was our social butterfly, loved dancing, spent hours praying and watching EWTN, and always had coffee, cookies, and dichos to share with visitors.

A rosary and funeral service will be held at the Sangre de Cristo Church in San Luis. The viewing will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the rosary at 6 p.m. on Aug. 24. The funeral service will take place on Aug. 25 at 1 p.m., with a viewing starting at 12 p.m. Burial services will follow at the San Acacio Community Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations for the enhancement of the San Acacio Mission Church in honor of Casilda's memory, and to support the cherished church community she held dearly. Please send your contributions to Marian Olivas Montoya at PO Box 358, Blanca CO 81123.

Casilda Lila Olivas will forever be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and loving nature. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
