Cidelia Mondragon

LA JARA — La Jara resident Cidelia Mondragon, 97, passed away May 23, 2019.  Cidelia was born on June 30, 1921, daughter of Rumaldo Chavez and Maricia Salazar. 

She was united in marriage to Juan Mondragon and the two shared a loving and happy union until his passing.  Cidelia was an exceptional and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who enjoyed gardening, flowers and vegetables, quilting, embroidery, camping, baking, family events, bingo, watching Wheel of Fortune, praying the rosary and especially the time she spent with her family and friends. 

Survivors include daughters Desmarie (Victor) Romero, Manassa, Lucy (Lupe) Medina, Deming, N.M.; Dorothy Milatz, Colorado Springs, Maria Mondragon, Santa Fe, N.M., Vidella Gomez, Alamosa, and Martha (Larry) Platt, Grand Junction; son Eugene (Christine) Mondragon, Manassa, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She was the last survivor of six siblings.  She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, one infant son, Jesus Gilbert Mondragon, son-in-law Robert Gomez.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held Thursday, May 30, 2019, 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Conejos.  A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 10 a.m., also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Conejos.  Interment will follow at the La Florida Cemetery in La Florida.
