Criselda Medina

LA JARA — La Jara resident and former San Francisco, Colo. resident Criselda Medina, 98, passed away Sept. 28, 2019 at the Rio Grande Inn Nursing Home with her loving family by her side. Criselda was born on July 20,1921 in San Francisco, Colo., the daughter of Nazario Medina and Anita Vigil Medina. United in marriage to Cornelio Medina for many long and happy years until his passing. Criselda was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend who enjoyed cooking, going to BINGO and caring for her family.

She will love on through her grandchildren, Norman (Debbie) Medina of San Luis, Colo., Betty (Paul) Velasquez of La Junta, Colo. And Levi Medina of San Francisco, Colo.; 11 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Tony (Carmen) Medina of Denver, Mary Taylor of Fort Garland, Colo., Eufemia (Lloyd) Barela and Joe James, both of San Francisco, Colo. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Criselda was preceded in death by her parents, Nazario and Anita Medina; husband, Cornelio Medina; children, Ray Medina, Bernie Medina and Rafelita Medina; grandson, Dennis Medina; brothers, Celestino Medina, Albert Medina and Joe Medina; sisters, Margie Gallegos and Clorinda Medina.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019  at 10:30 a.m. at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will  follow at 11 a.m., also at Sangre De Cristo Church. Interment will follow at the San Francisco Cemetery.
