Erma “Patsy” Gonzales (Roybal)

MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista resident Patsy Roybal, passed away April 6, 2019 at her home under hospice care with her loving family by her side.

Patsy was born Aug. 11, 1940 in San Acacio, Colo. to Fermin and Petra Roybal.

Patsy was a retiree of Kmart in Alamosa, Colo. She was an avid Broncos fan and enjoyed the many years she participated in bowling leagues, though her greatest joy was spending time with her loving family.

Survivors include her children, Leonard Roybal of Denver, Laura (Joseph) Atencio of Monte Vista, Colo., Les Roybal (Yvette) of Trinidad, Colo., Jay (Reina) Roybal of Monte Vista; one brother, Rudy Roybal of Pueblo, Colo.; four sisters, Carol Torres of Strasburg, Colo., Darlene (Max) Sims of Monte Vista, Rose (Loyd) Velasques of Fountain, Colo., Shirley (John) Sanchez of Pueblo; and her grandson, Gary Atencio, whom was her main caregiver; along with 10 other grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Modesto Roybal, Jr.; her late spouse, Alphonse Gonzales; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Alice (Doyle) Bishop, Betty (Phil) Pruett and Claude Torres; nieces, Cindy Chacon and Donna Kay Bishop.

A vigil service with recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. Interment will follow services at Monte Vista Cemetery.
