RENO, Nev. — Floyd Franco Fontanero-Martinez, 78, passed away in Reno, Nev. on April 30, 2019.
Floyd was born in Fort Garland, Colo., to Jose Ologio Martinez and Maria Precilliana Trujillo on Oct. 27, 1940. Later he moved to Washington State, where he lived for many years until he moved to Las Vegas, Nev., where he pursued his career of sportswriter and photographer of professional boxing.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandy Lopez; brothers, Marty (Max) Martinez, Aggie Martinez, James Martinez, Herby Martinez and Eddie (Pete) Martinez.
He leaves behind his wife, Rose; son, Ty and Rob Fontanero; daughters, Misty Peterson and Zina Fontanero; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He will be missed tremendously.
Truckee Meadows Cremation and Burial Services, Reno, Nev. will be in charge of cremation. Per his wishes, no public services will be held.
