SAN LUIS — San Luis resident Frances A. Martinez, 74, went to her eternal rest on April 29, 2019.

Frances made her grand entrance into the world on Aug. 30, 1944 in Amalia, N.M., the daughter of Samuel Arellano and Casimera Sena Arellano.

Frances was united in marriage to the love of her life, Eulalio Martinez, on Nov. 3, 1963. The two shared a happy and loving union for 55 years until her passing.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Society and the Carmelitas. Frances was a devoted, exceptional and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, laughing, being outdoors and spending as much time as she could with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Eulalio J. Martinez of San Luis, Colo.; sons, Ricky Martinez of San Luis, Colo. and Sammy Martinez of Alamosa, Colo.; daughter, Lolly (Phillip) Esquibel of San Luis, Colo.; grandchildren, Eulalio (Vanessa) Martinez, Jose (Lorroya) Martinez, Shantae Martinez (Luis Santiago), Phillip Esquibel, Jr. and Monique Esquibel, all of San Luis, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Soleil Martinez and Alexander Santiago, both of San Luis, Colo.; sisters, Helen Vigil of San Luis, Colo., Mary (Floyd) Vialpando of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Gloria (Wilfred) Vialpando and Olympia (Eusebio) Medina, both of San Luis, Colo.; brothers, Leo (Frances) Arellano of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Cornelio (Joann) Arellano of San Luis, Colo. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Casimera Arellano; brother, James Arellano; and daughter-in-law, Audrey Martinez.

A vigil service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 7 p.m. at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 10 a.m., also at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church.
