Gilda Steffens was born November 6, 1947 in Childress Texas.  Her family moved to various areas of Texas as she grew up.   As a child she was a shy girl with an infectious laugh.  She spent plenty of time with her cousins and uncles at her grandmother’s home growing up.  She was quiet and let them be the wild ones.  Here sweet spirit and kind heart continued throughout her life.

She moved around in her adult life.  She lived in Evanston WY and raised her son Blake.  After his death she eventually found herself in love with an electrician from Colorado.  She married Ben Steffens on the property they loved in October 2001.  They loved, laughed and built a life and home in Del Norte, CO.  Her passion for animals were fulfilled by this life.  She was also able to do the work she loved of being a home health care provider.  This gave her satisfaction of giving back and meeting some amazing people who she held dear to her heart.  The friends they made together, she opened her heart to make them family. 

She passed away May 1, 2018 at Swedish Hospital in Englewood CO surrounded by her family.  She is preceded in death by her parents Mary and Jim Ritchinson, her brother Dennis and sister Rhonda, and her son Blake Weaver.  She is survived by her husband Ben Steffens, her children Kris Hendricks, Bert Hendricks and Marcie Klein, her grandchildren Austin Steffens, Alicia Guel, Amanda Guel, Courtney Klein Brittany Klein and great grand daughter Kamyrn Smith.
