Licia Vigil

SAN LUIS — Licia Vigil, 92, went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2020. Making her grand entrance into the world on June 2, 1928, in Arroyo Hondo, New Mexico, the daughter of Gabriel Romero and Domitila Vigil Romero. Licia will be remembered by family and friends for contagious laugh, loving, kind and compassionate nature. A selfless and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Licia enjoyed baking, cooking, weaving, sewing and quilting. Her greatest joy in life came from the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Licia was devoted to her Catholic faith, her Carmelite and Sacred Heart Societies. 

Survivors include her daughters Lillian (Edward) Simermeyer of Baltimore, MD; Roseline (Gabriel) Blea of Las Vegas, NM; Rebecca (Tom) Matte of Albuquerque, NM; Annette Vigil of Albuquerque, NM; Kay Vigil of Montague, MA; Maria (Santos) Aragon of Ft. Garland, CO; daughters-in-laws Elma Vigil of Taos, NM, Theresa Vigil of Las Vegas, NM; sons Serafin (Lorrie) Vigil of San Luis, CO; Thomas (Jenny) Vigil of Santa Fe, NM; Francis Vigil of Arroyo Hondo, NM; Ramon Vigil, Gary (Sherri) Vigil both of San Luis, CO; special grandson Jonathan (Rhonda) Vigil of Ft. Garland, CO; 28 grandchildren,  25great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, sisters Fabi Romero of San Cristobal, NM; Loretta Wilson of Albuquerque, NM; Eleanor (Alfredo) Vigil of Taos, NM; brothers Eliu (Kim) Romero of Taos, NM; Robert (Vera) Romero of San Cristobal, NM; sister -in-law Marcella Romero, brother-in-law Robert McComas.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Licia was preceded in death by her parents Gabriel and Domitila Vigil, husband Leopoldo T. Vigil and sons Leopoldo B. Vigil, Wilbert Vigil, sisters Cora Chai, Pricilla McComas, infant sister Christina, brother Joe Romero and Adelmo Romero.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11:30 AM also at Sangre De Cristo Church. Interment will follow at the Sangre De Cristo Cemetery.
