DEL NORTE — Lyle Joseph VenRooy, age 66,  died in his home in Del Norte on Sunday Jan. 5, 2020.

Lyle was born in Colby, Wisc. He served in the U.S. Army and spent most of his life as a bulldozer operator. He may be best known for cruising the San Luis Valley in his sparkly blue ’56 Chevy, his love of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and his daily visits to the Del Norte cafe.

Lyle was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn; and his father, Harold. He is survived by his daughters, Laura and Michelle; son-in-law, Dylan Baker; grandson, Ryker; and ex-wife, Barbara; as well as siblings, nieces and nephews.

The family will hold private services and a celebration of life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 at the Alamosa Elks Lodge.
