Marcella Estrella Chacon, 86

ALAMOSA — Alamosa resident Marcella Estrella Chacon, 86, went to her eternal rest on Jan. 4, 2020.

Marcella was born on Dec. 21, 1933 in Fort Garland, the daughter of Atilano Aguilar and Mary Hilda Martinez.

She was a member of the American Legion, W.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Elks. Marcella enjoyed doing yard work, volunteering and being involved with her church and in the community helping with anything she could. She loved and cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn Chacon of Alamosa, and Marie Chacon of Denver; son Abel (Angela) Chacon of Sanford; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sisters, Eva Ruybal of Alamosa and Berlinda (Mike) Martinez of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers, Adonice Aguilar, Orlando (Pauline) Aguilar, Tommy (Christina) Aguilar, all of Fort Garland. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Atilano and Mary Aguilar; husband, Abel Chacon Jr., three infant siblings, sisters, Jenny Martinez, Dorothy Mondragon and Vince Aguilar; and brothers Levi and Evan Aguilar.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the Presbyterian Church in Alamosa.
