Mary Ardeen Garland, 97

Mary Ardeen Garland, 97, passed away Tuesday February 19, 2019 at the home of her daughter Janice in Mesa, Arizona with her family in attendance.

Ardeen was born January 29, 1922 the fifth child of John Jefferson and Ella Ree Holman Brady. She was born at the family home in Manassa, Colorado. She was welcomed by her four older brothers.  Two years later her sister was welcomed into the family, and five years later another brother.

Ardeen was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held different callings throughout the years.

As a child Ardeen would rather be outside working then in the house. She spent a lot of time playing with her siblings and cousins.

In high school she was on the girls high school basketball team. It has been told that she was very good. Her senior year she was voted most popular girl. 

December 31, 1940 Ardeen married Jack Emerson Garland in Taos New Mexico. Jack and Ardeen moved to the Garland ranch where they lived until 1978 when they moved back to her family home in Manassa, living there until 1993.  She then moved to her home on Main Street.

Ardeen and Jack had four girls and two boys. She loved going hunting and fishing, working in the fields with Jack, and with the cows.

She was sealed for time and eternity to Jack in July of 2014 in the Bountiful Temple.

Ardeen is survived by her four daughters Karla Kellogg of Mountain Home, Idaho, Janice Burrow of Mesa, Arizona, Jackie Fraughton of Layton, Utah, Carolyn Daniels of Manassa, Colorado and her son and daughter in law Ed and Deborah Garland of Scottsdale, Arizona. She is also survived by grand-children Steven Kellogg, Ross(Tana) Kellogg, Kenny Kellogg and Stacy, Lisa (Chad) Carle, Darrell Adams and Robin Melissa Hise, and Kyle, Michelle (Clint) Cacciacarne. Charlie (Sadie) Haynie, Rick (Janelle) Haynie, Shane (Janae) Fraughton, Ashlee Fraughton, Erik Daniels, Blayne Daniels and Holly, Stephanie (John) Milliron and Amy (Alex) Basset. She is also survived by 42 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, her sister in law Edwina Brady of Manassa and many nieces and nephew. 

She was preceded in death July 2013 by her husband Jack and in 1968 by her son Richard Dwayne (Ricky).  She has also been preceded by her son in laws Kelly Kellogg, Leslie Burrow, Gary Fraughton, her parents John and Ella Ree Brady, her brothers Leo, Arlo, Reece and their wives her brothers Dwayne and Max and her sister LaVern King, her father and mother in law Ed and Rosa Garland her sister in laws Ruth Holman, Stella Haynie, Margret Rogers and their husbands.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 2, 2019 at 11am at the Manassa Stake House Manassa Colorado, with a viewing Friday, March 1, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Rogers Mortuary in Manassa and Saturday in the primary room at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 am.  Interment will follow services in the Manassa Cemetery.
