Mary J Zearley (Fleming)

Former Ft Garland and Monte Vista resident, Mary J  Zearley  (Fleming), passed away September 3, 2018 at her home in Sun Lakes Arizona.  She died only a week after finding out about her lung cancer.  She, along with her husband, operated the Hitching Post Restaurant in Blanca between 1974 and 1983.

Mary was born in Melrose New Mexico and moved to Monte Vista at an early age. After graduating from Monte Vista High School, she attended Helen Key Beauty School in Colorado Springs, where she met her husband.  They were married for 62 years and had one son, Jeffrey B Zearley. They have lived in Colorado, Edwards AFB California, Las Vegas Nevada,  Weisbaden Germany,  DeSoto Texas and Sun Lakes Arizona.

Mary, aka, Sissy, Aunt Mary, Aunt Mimi, Mrs Z, lived and enjoyed life the most when she was around family, or on the road to some place new.   She always wanted to see what was on the other side of that next hill.   Mary was know as determined and strong mother, wife, friend and Aunt .

Mary is survived by her husband Harold Zearley of Sun Lakes AZ and her son, Jeffrey (Jan) Zearley of Key West Florida.  Nieces and Nephews, Sherrie and Scott Weidman, Renee and Randy Howard, and Debra and Scott McKnight. Her cousins, extended family and friends are too numerous to name, but she loved them all.

Mary is already missed by her family, neighbors and friends. Most of all by her son Jeff and her husband of 62 years.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Nate and Grace Fleming, her brothers Thomas (Tom) Fleming, Gary A Fleming, Sister-in laws Helene Fleming and Nancy Fleming, Nephews, Michael Fleming and Rusty Fleming.
