Norma Jean Martinez, 69

CENTER — Center resident Norma Jean Martinez, 69, went to her eternal rest on Jan. 24, 2020. Norma was born on Feb. 11, 1950 in Center, the daughter of Edward Isidoro Garcia and Esther Orilla Gonzalez Garcia.

After graduating high school, she worked for and retired from the Sargent School District as a lunchroom accountant.

Norma Jean was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and friend, who enjoyed spending time with her sons, gardening, going gambling and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her sons, Henry E. “Hank” (Bill) Martinez of Centennial; Trever Scott Martinez of Denver; sister, Shirley Garcia of Alamosa; brother, Edward Garcia of Broomfield; special niece, Krysta (Gabe) Ortega of Pueblo; great-niece, Mia Ortega of Pueblo; godchildren, Desi, Samuel, Ashly and James.

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry Joseph Martinez; and brother, Ron Garcia.

Cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will be held later this summer.
