SAN LUIS — San Luis resident Olivia Mary Espinoza, 79, went to her eternal rest on Sept. 20, 2019 at her home with her loving family by her side. Olivia was welcomed into the world on Oct. 30, 1939 in San Luis, Colo., the daughter of Joe DeHerrera and Anna Marie Marez DeHerrera. She was united in marriage to Charlie Espinoza on June 1962. The two shared a long and loving union of 57 years, until his passing. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed sewing, cooking, making tamales, attending church, helping with church fundraisers and reading her Bible. Her greatest joy in life came from the time she was able to spend with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Norma Jean Ramirez (Joseph Quintana) of San Pablo, Colo.; sons, Rick (Delma) Espinoza of McAllen, Texas and Randy Espinoza of San Luis, Colo.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Perez of San Luis, Colo., Betty Atencio of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Agatha Medina of San Luis, Colo.; half-sister, Mary Olivas of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and brother, Fred (Louise) DeHerrera of Colorado Springs, Colo. She is also survived by many nieces,  nephews, cousins and friends.

Olivia was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Anna DeHerrera; husband, Charlie Espinoza; son, Charles Espinoza Jr.; brothers, Maclovio, Adonise, Henry, Alfonso, Alarico, Pedro and Billy DeHerrera, Chris Maez; and one sister, Elsie Gallegos.

A Prayer Service was held on Friday, Sept. 27, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Apostolic Church located at 700 Alfonso St. in San Luis. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 at 10 a.m., also at the Apostolic Church in San Luis. Interment took place at the Apostolic Cemetery.
