He served as a volunteer firefighter and as Alamosa Fire Chief. Paul served in different positions within the State Firefighters Association and served as President in 1983. He worked in the insurance business, working with fire departments and municipalities until his retirement.

Paul was active in the Alamosa Elks Lodge and served as a Past Exalted Ruler.

After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, golf, friends, family, and travel with his wife. He had a love for music and enjoyed singing.

Paul married Lois on Sept. 4, 1976. Together they combined families and raised three children. They also have six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
