Raymond Victor David, “Ray Ray”, beloved resident of Del Norte, Colo., passed away on Sept. 16, 2023, at the age of 31. Raymond was born on Sept. 1, 1992, in Del Norte, Colo., to his parents Mark David and Kathy Carpenter David. He grew up in this close-knit community, and his love for the town and its people never wavered throughout his life.

Raymond attended school in Monte Vista, Colo. And he received a degree in Diesel Mechanics from Trinidad State Junior College which he was very proud of. He was employed at Myers Brothers Truck and Tractor.

Ray Ray loved spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed playing in the mud, working on his truck, and crocheting. Recently he was introduced to drag racing and was enjoying learning about racing.  And everyone loved it when he showed off his new truck or some other new thing he’d picked up. “Not bad huh!”

Ray Ray was known for his warm and friendly personality. He had a special way about him that could brighten anyone's day and a kind word for everyone he met. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, and what he had, he would give to a stranger if that stranger needed it. Ray Ray’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be dearly missed and remembered for his unwavering love for his family and community.

If kind, caring and giving had a name it would be Ray Ray. Ray was loved by everyone who took the time to know him. The strength of a hawk with the spirit of a dove. That dove forgave those who may not have known him, and flew home to his father in heaven to receive the rewards he always deserved.

Throughout his life, Raymond was dedicated to his family. He cherished every moment he got to spend with his new nephew Lane, and especially looked forward to Saturday nights with his late Grandmother Mary Ellen David. She had taught him at a young age to crochet, and he loved making things for his friends and family. He would always get them dinner from town, and watch the Molly B Polka Party and Daniel O’Donel, his grandmother’s favorite shows.

He is survived by his grandmother Eileen Carpenter of Del Norte, Colo.; his parents Mark and Kathy David of Del Norte, Colo.; his brother Lawrence David of Del Norte, Colo.; his nephew Lane Michael David; his aunts and uncles Veronica (James) Dominguez, Emy (Clint) Carpenter, and Tammy (Randy) Wright; as well as numerous cousins, extended family, and a host of friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Victor and Mildred Anderson, his grandparents Raymond and Mary Ellen David, and grand-parents Pops and Nana, Ed Carpenter, and Gail Holbrook.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa, for close friends and family.  A second celebration for all his friends with a potluck will be held in the park in Del Norte on Oct. 7 at 1 p.m.
