Richard “Tiny” Tate, 78

Alamosa resident Richard “Tiny” Tate, 78, passed away March 16, 2019 at the Rio Grande Inn Nursing Home. Richard was born on November 9, 1940 in Spokane, Washington, the son of Richard Miller Tate and Mary June Bailey-Anderson. Richard worked as a truck driver for many years, where he found his love for being on the open road. He was an exceptional father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed camping, shooting guns, reading western books, watching movies and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children Ana Montanez of Crescent City, CA; David (Sylvia) Montanez of Thornton, CO; Henry Montanez of Alamosa, CO; sisters Kathy Graff of Moses Lake, WA; Vickie Dills of Soap Lake, WA; grandchildren Isabelle Montanez of Alamosa, CO; Raymond Ramirez of Tucson, AZ; Jessica and Stephanie Llantada of Azusa, CA; Olivia and Leticia Montanez of Thornton, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Mike Tate and sister Barbara Evans.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. To leave online condolences please visit romerofuneralhomes.com. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
