Steve L. Valdez

DENVER — Center resident Steve L. Valdez, passed away Aug. 16, 2019 at his home in Denver surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born Nov. 28, 1946 in Center, the son of Carlos Valdez and Corina Arellano.  He was united in marriage to Betty Duran on July 24, 1971.

Steve was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who enjoyed fishing, hunting, autobody and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Betty Valdez of Center; daughter Amy (James) Drummond of Denver; sons Gerald (Christina) Valdez of Monte Vista and Steve (Amy)Valdez of Denver; brother-in-law Richard Martinez, grandchildren Steven Valdez of Monte Vista; Jaz-nae Drummond of Colorado Springs; Serenity Valdez, Monte Vista; Nevaeh Valdez, Alamosa, Xavier Montejano, Deja Quintana, Brayan Montejano, Jacob Montejano all of Denver; Saias Valdez, Loveland; Leticia Valdez, Denver; Thalia Drummond, Denver.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Carlos Valdez and Corina Arellano; brother Max (Clara) Valdez; sisters Genevieve Martinez, Martha (Roy) Lucero and Marcella (Manuel) Chacon.

A Prayer Service will be held Friday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m. at the St. Francis Jerome Catholic Church in Center.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. at the St. Francis Jerome Catholic Church in Center.

Interment will follow at the Worker’s Union Cemetery in Monte Vista.
