Capulin resident Waldo Ben Torres was welcomed home by our Lord on Sept. 7, 2023, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo., surrounded by his loving family. Waldo was welcomed into the world on March 17, 1934, to Jose N. Torres and Manuelita Muniz.

Waldo was a loving caring man that treated everyone he came across like family. After graduation, Waldo joined the Marines and served his country. He was very proud to say he was a Marine and proud to have worked for Ford for many years in Denver, Colo.

He was also a member of the VFW Post 501 out of Denver, Colo. Waldo enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting.

Above all he loved his little angels Jaylen Hamilton, Micheal Martinez and all his many grandkids.

He will live on through his sisters Carmen Gallegos of Denver, Colo., Inez Segura of Denver, Colo., and Kathrin Martinez of Monte Vista and Brothers Samuel Torres of Denver, Colo., Amos (Dorothy) Torres of Denver, Colo., Efren Torres, and Jose N. Torres. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.

He will be missed dearly by his sisters, brothers and family and friends.

Waldo was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe Ortega, and Marina Montoya and sister Della Martinez of San Francisco, Calif.

Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, at 7 p.m. at ST. Joseph Church in Capulin, Colo. Memorial Mass will follow at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow at Capulin Cemetery with Military Honors.
