ALAMOSA — Longtime Alamosa resident Yvonne Jeanette Achatz, 78, passed away on Dec. 14, 2019.

Yvonne was born on Dec. 17, 1940 in Espanola, N.M., to Curtis Clyde and Frances (Schoenberger) Henson.

Yvonne married Dale Eugene Achatz on Oct.  26, 1957 in Alamosa.

She was a longtime operator and supervisor for Mountain Bell and a receptionist for the San Luis Valley Medical Clinic.  Yvonne was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the current treasurer for Alamosa Elk’s Lodge, BPOE 1297, and a volunteer ambasador at San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center.

Yvonne loved being involved in her community; assisting with the city Easter egg hunt, the Elk’s Christmas party, as well as many other civic events that were too numerous to mention.

Yvonne especially cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Eugene Achatz; her children, Mike (Lindsay) Achatz, Lori Achatz-Garcia, Alan (Peggy) Achatz and Russell Achatz; her grandchildren, Kristi (Trevor) Driggs, Tiffany Garcia, Christopher (LaDonna) Achatz and Jessica Acahtz; her great-grandchildren, Greyson Driggs and Nathan Achatz; as well as her siblings, Patti Bates and Don Henson.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law Tim A. Garcia and her siblings, Harold, Gen, Theresa, Dorothy and Virginia.

Cremation was selected and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday Dec. 20, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa.  Inurnment will follow in the Alamosa Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the San Luis Valley Health Foundation and may be made in care of the funeral home office.  To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
