Alamosa resident Eva A. Kaess, 93, departed this life on May 20, 2021, at the Evergreen Nursing Home. Eva was welcomed into the world on May 18, 1928, in Saguache, Colorado, the daughter of Richard Archuleta and Jean Gallegos Archuleta. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Eva enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, doing crossword puzzles and word search games as well as going to bingo. She liked taking rides to Taos to go gambling. Eva loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters Joyce Mazza of Muskegon, MI; Yvonne (Bill) Bargeron of Worland, WY; Bernadette (Ned) Ishmael of Enid, OK; son Richard Maestas (Marjorie Coens) of Lafayette, LA; 8 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, sisters Dolores Santisteven of Denver, CO; Tina Wong of Martinez, CA; brothers Jerry Archuleta of Denver, CO; David Archuleta of Utah. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Jean Archuleta and one son Fred Karl Maestas.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church in
