MANASSA – Ernestina Romero, a cherished mother, partner, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sept. 30, 2024, in La Jara, Colo., where she was also born on June 17, 1968. Her life was a testament to her strength, creativity, and passion, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Ernestina's journey began in the small, close-knit community of La Jara, where she was born to parents Ernest and Tillie Romero. She was preceded in death by her parents, her maternal and paternal grandparents, her brothers Buddy and Geno Romero, and numerous other family members, her spirit and legacy continue to shine brightly through those she leaves behind.

A woman of remarkable resilience and love, Ernestina was married at a young age and embraced an extended family as her own. 

She is survived by the father of her children, Joe Pacheco, and her loving partner, Modesto Rodriguez. Her children, Christopher (Lorrinda) Pacheco, Mary (Carlos) Large, and Jose (Christina) Pacheco, and Clara will carry forward her nurturing spirit. Ernestina also raised Jonathan J.J. Martinez, who will forever be grateful for her guidance and care. Her sister June and Juan Rodriguez, her brother Ernest and Peggy Romero, Dillie Romero, Lee Romero, and Leon Romero, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will remember her fondly for her unwavering support and love. Ernestina's role as a grandmother was one, she cherished deeply. She leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Known for her handy and creative talents, Ernestina had a passion for life that was evident in everything she did. She loved to drive and took great pride in her car, often embarking on journeys and exploring new places. Her love for travel was just one aspect of her adventurous spirit.

Ernestina was the heart of the kitchen, where she loved to cook and prepare meals for everyone. Her culinary skills were matched by her creativity, as she spent her spare time crafting doll clothes and making blankets. Her passion for crochet allowed her to create beautiful, tangible memories for her loved ones, each stitch a symbol of her dedication and love.

Ernestina's life was one of action and contribution. She was a woman who used her talents and energy to make a positive impact on those around her. Her ability to fix, create, and nurture was unparalleled, and her passion for life was contagious.

Her legacy is one of kindness, creativity, and passion, and it will continue to inspire and guide us. Ernestina's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared, the meals enjoyed, and the blankets that wrap us in warmth. Her spirit will forever be a part of the fabric of our lives, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

A memorial service honoring Ernestina’s life will be held at a later date.
