ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School softball team committed seven errors which proved costly as the Lady Mean Moose lost to Rocky Ford Monday at the Lee Field Complex.

The start of the game was delayed 45 minutes because of lightning in the area.

The Lady Meloneers struck for three runs in the top of the first inning. They used two hits and three Lady Moose errors to take the lead.

Alamosa tied the score in its half of the first. Shaya Martin started the rally with a single, and Araceli Molina followed with a walk. Gabby Castillo singled home Martin to cut the Rocky Ford lead to 3-1.

Alicia Rios then walked, and Addison McCarroll’s single brought home Molina and Castillo to deadlock the score at 3-3.

The Lady Meloneers regained the lead with two runs in the second on one hit and one Alamosa error.

The Lady Mean Moose scored once in the bottom of the third. Castillo singled, moved to second on Rios’ groundout and took third on an error. She scored on a wild pitch to reduce the deficit to 5-4.

After a scoreless fourth, the Lady Meloneers put the game away with three runs in the fifth. They had no hits in the inning but took advantage of three errors.

The bad weather returned to the area after the fifth and the game was ended because of the weather.
