Kenneth Cole Wakasugi

Longtime Blanca resident Kenneth Cole Wakasugi, 52, passed away on April 14, 2023. He was born on July 10, 1970, in Alamosa, Colo., to Rodger Donald and Jane Sumiko (Kawanabe) Wakasugi. Cole was a former volunteer firefighter in Blanca and had previously served on the Blanca Town Board. He was currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Rural Electric Co-op. He enjoyed golf, fly fishing, ice fishing, playing poker and was a lifelong learner that was always up for a new challenge.

He is survived by his wife Kim Wakasugi, their two talented children Brisha Wakasugi and Bradley Wakasugi, his parents Rodger and Jane Wakasugi, his sister Terri (Matt) Husmann as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cole was preceded by his grandparents, Thomas and Hisayo Kawanabe and Francis and Alice Wakasugi. 

He was a loving, kind, funny and generous person. Cole is leaving behind a lifetime of memories and laughter with everyone he touched.

Cremation was selected and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Contributions are suggested to his beloved Colorado School of Mines and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
