ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School girls soccer team lost its third straight game and was shut out for the second straight contest as the Lady Mean Moose lost to Montezuma-Cortez 2-0 Friday at the AHS stadium.

“It wasn’t for a lack of effort on our end,” said Alamosa coach Claire Lara. “We’re just struggling as little bit. We just have to keep working. That’s all we can do. We’re going to take the weekend to reset and we’re back at it on Monday.”

The Lady Panthers scored the first goal in the game’s 15th minute as Jordlan Mahler put the ball into the back of the net. Carlie McClellan was credited with the assist.

The second goal came in the 54th minute with Anna Jensen scoring off a Janae Boyd assist.

Montezuma-Cortez outshot Alamosa 5-4.

For the second straight game, the Lady Mean Moose were without starting goalkeeper Emily Tibbits who is out with an injury. Myissa Duran started in goal and she had three saves.

Alamosa (3-5, 1-3 Southwest League) will host a non-league game against Rye on Tuesday.

They should be good,” Lara said. “I don’t know a whole lot about them right now. I’ve been taking it one team at a time. So I’ll take the time this weekend to look at film and come up with a game plan. We’ll come back at it on Tuesday.”
