Michelle Angela Salazar

Monte Vista native Michelle Angela Salazar, 60, entered eternal rest on July 6, 2024. Michelle made her grand entrance into the world Nov. 2,1963, beloved daughter of Lawrence "bebe" Salazar and Theresa Archuleta, raised by her grandmother Josephine M. Salazar.

Michelle was a hardworking, free spirit, she worked in agriculture for many years, and was very well known in the community, growing up she was the average tomboy with her t-shirt and jeans, the definition of needing no man around to get things done, unless it came to her dad, she would cross oceans for him. She knew no stranger and would stop to talk with anyone she came across for hours on end. She was strong-willed, if there was anyone to tell you exactly how it was and is, she was that person.

Michelle was blessed with five children as well as six grandchildren. She enjoyed outdoors, cookouts, crossword puzzles, Spanish music, and you wouldn't dare catch her without her Pepsi and cigarettes, Joel Osteen was one of her favorites, only because "he talks like a cowboy." She was also an avid Raiders fan.

Her greatest joys were time well spent with family, especially her grandchildren, they were her prize possessions, the reason to keep going, she was proud to be their "Gram Cracker." Those moments will be forever cherished. She will be heavily missed.

Michelle will live on through her children, Javier (Andrew) Salazar-Maez of Alamosa, Colo., Kim Salazar of Monte Vista, Colo., Cesar Adan (Derek) Salazar-Moya of Pueblo, Colo., Blanca (Isaac) Medina of Albuquerque, N.M.; as well as her grandchildren, Ernesto Arias, Preciosa Arias, Orlando Trujillo, Roman Trujillo, Damian Salazar and Avyianah Medina; her siblings, Diane Sanchez, Freda (Miguel) Salazar, Linda (Mario) Rodriguez. Roberta Salazar and Theresa Clark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Salazar and Theresa Archuleta; her mother, Josephine M. Salazar; her brothers, Bernard, Gary and Frederico; her sister, Pricilla Renner; and cousin, Ricky Sanchez.

Rosary will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Monte Vista, Colo.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10 a.m. also at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Monte Vista, Colo. Reception to be announced.
