Monte Vista resident Angel Victoria Salazar-Nevarez, 23, was called home to be with the Lord on May 21, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Angel was welcomed into the world on April 16, 1998, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Angelica Salazar and Felipe Nevarez. Angel will always be remembered for her outgoing personality and her loving compassionate nature. She enjoyed listening to music, going camping, going shooting and target practicing. Above all, she loved the time she spent with her family and friends.
She will live on through her parents Angelica Salazar and Felipe Nevarez both of Monte Vista, CO; grandparents Esther Carreno, Diana Salazar both of Monte Vista, CO; sisters Lucia Martinez, Marissa Martinez both of Monte Vista, CO; brothers Reyes Nevarez, Felipe Nevares Jr., both of Monte Vista; Nino Johnny (Erica) Salazar, Nina “Auntie” Eva of Monte Vista, CO; her favorite Uncle Robert (Rose) Salazar of Monte Vista, as well as her little cousins whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Angel was preceded in death by her grandfathers Ventura Nevarez Timothy Rodriguez, grandmother Victoria Salazar and one uncle John Salazar.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church. Interment will be held at the Workers Union Cemetery.
