Grace Lillian Rosenberger-Helms

Grace Lillian Rosenberger-Helms, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and five generation great great grandmother (nine times) passed away Wednesday May 25, 2022 at the age of 101.  Grace was born on December 17, 1920 in Mesita, Colorado to Vernon Lee Rosenberger and Lillian Jesse Van Horn Rosenberger.

Grace was united in marriage to Clyde Helms, Jr. on June 17, 1939.  They lived and farmed in the Carmel District and founded Helms Potato Company.  Clyde and Grace were married for 58 years before Clyde’s passing in 1997.  Following the passing of her husband,, Grace continued living in the family home for nineteen years.  When she turned 96, she moved to the Bridge at Alamosa.  Clyde and Grace were blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.  Family was very important to Grace and she was a wonderful mother and cook.  Grace’s passion was playing bridge and she was an avid golfer until the age of 96.  She was the Mother Advisor for the Order of Rainbow Girls, a Cub Scout leader and a longtime member of the Eastern Star, receiving her fifty year pin in 1999. 

She is survived by her daughter Lila Jean (Roger) Escheman, grandchildren, Jeff (Linette) Escheman and Ron (Barbara) Escheman; daughter Connie (Larry) Carpenter, grandchildren, Lynnette Carpenter, Steven (Janalyn) Carpenter, Karen Brown and Susan Seder; son Roy (Linda) Helms, grandchildren, Ryan (Debbie) Helms and Kari (Arlo) Van Rye.  Grace is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Michael McEnany and Henry and Agnas Von Steeg.

Sincere gratitude is extended to the staff of The Bridge of Alamosa for the wonderful and loving care they gave Grace throughout her stay at the Bridge and in her final days.
